Your **Data Story Section** is accessible via the **top icon** of the Sidebar on the bottom left corner of the Advisor.&#x20;

Data Storytelling is a key capability to boost data **organization** and **collaboration**.

In fact, Crystal offers the possibility to **collect, manage, and share Topics** by grouping them into customizable collections, called **Data Stories**.

The Data Storytelling capability allows you to:

* Analyze data faster, with a single point of access for your most interesting Topics.
* Communicate your data more efficiently and in an appealing way, through a personalized story.

Now, let's dive deeper into the capability!

## **Create a New Data Story**

Let's start by creating a Data Story.&#x20;

Data Stories are collections of Topics that allow you to organize and get to your Topics from a single point of access.

To access your Data Stories, just click on the *"Plus"* icon, which you can find either:

1. In the Data Story section, on the top right corner
2. In the tab that opens up when you click on the save button located at the bottom of the Topic Card (see next section).

At this point, you can give a name to your new Data Story.

<figure><img src="https://2516160394-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FmAOqTQkYofJrevcpklA7%2Fuploads%2FZhS4PrQsA6NPPMSKF3q5%2FScreenshot%202024-02-23%20at%2017.27.41.png?alt=media&#x26;token=7a9c749c-cc21-4c65-a048-77b5be2c10e9" alt="" width="471"><figcaption><p>Name a  Data Story</p></figcaption></figure>

## Save a Topic in a Data Story

This is how you save a Data Story:

1. Click on the *“Save”* button in the Topic Card
2. Choose one or more Data Stories from the list of existing ones or create a new Data Story
3. Click on *“Add”* and that will save your Story!

At this point, you can find and access your Topic without having to ask for it again on the Advisor.

<figure><img src="https://2516160394-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FmAOqTQkYofJrevcpklA7%2Fuploads%2FeUFe9lEvpuXvxXGYn94A%2FScreenshot%202024-02-23%20at%2012.28.37.png?alt=media&#x26;token=dbdc5a7c-95cc-4ec3-904f-66ad1f22d01f" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>Save Topic to a Data Story</p></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %} <mark style="color:blue;">**Please Note**</mark>

In the Data Story, you will find the Topics with their customizations saved, e.g. the applied filters will be maintained.

For example, you can see the Topic with *the* *Dynamic Time Filters* that were applied on it at the time of saving, and you will see them *updated in time*.
{% endhint %}

## Manage Your Data Stories

Next, let’s open the Data Stories section; the access point to all your collections of Topics.

This is where you will find:

1. The **list of all your Data Stories**, ordered by the latest changed

All your Data Stories can be renamed, deleted, and shared.

You can also see when the Data Story was last changed and how many Topics each Data Story contains.

2. The list of **all the Topics** inside each Data Story

This is where you can:

* Search for a Topic of interest
* Reorganize Topics based on the order of your choice
* Interact with all Topics, with the actions available from the Topic Cards ([Filter](https://docs.igenius.ai/crystal-advisor/explore-your-data/how-to-use-filters), [Alert](https://docs.igenius.ai/crystal-advisor/analyze-your-data/alerts), [Share](https://docs.igenius.ai/crystal-advisor/report-and-discuss-your-data/share-topic), [export](https://docs.igenius.ai/crystal-advisor/report-and-discuss-your-data/export-topic) and [Re-ask](https://docs.igenius.ai/crystal-advisor/explore-your-data/ask-topics)).

Your Topic will be available at the bottom of the Data Story where you saved it.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %} <mark style="color:blue;">**Please Note**</mark>

You can also remove Topics from the Data Stories. Simply re-click on the *“Save”* button, which will remove your Topic (whereas clicking on it on the Advisor will make you save it).
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="https://2516160394-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FmAOqTQkYofJrevcpklA7%2Fuploads%2FHXBCXU1kK1vohSJw8qlT%2FScreenshot%202024-02-23%20at%2012.30.39.png?alt=media&#x26;token=dbb7ae00-1fee-4944-81d4-d3c6bc13be8d" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>Data Stories Section</p></figcaption></figure>

Now, here's a deep dive into everything you can do with Data Stories.

### **R**ename a Data Story

You can rename Data Stories whenever you want.

Simply click on the menu on the right of the Data Story and select the *"Rename"* button.

A new window will pop up, allowing you to rename the Data Story.

### **Delete a Data Story**

Simply click on the menu on the right of the Data Story and select the *"Delete"* button.

A confirmation message will pop up, informing you that the removal of your Data Story is permanent.&#x20;

To confirm, click on the *"Yes, delete"* button.

<figure><img src="https://2516160394-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FmAOqTQkYofJrevcpklA7%2Fuploads%2FLAPN762Zz7xstpYG5VfD%2FScreenshot%202024-02-25%20at%2012.58.00.png?alt=media&#x26;token=8d829a7f-d584-4b0f-81f6-5222b67e78d5" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>Delete Option</p></figcaption></figure>

### Organize Data Stories

You can customize the order in which the Topic Cards are displayed within each Data Story at any time.

Just click on the *"Sort"* icon placed on the top right of each Data Story to sort your Topics in the order you want. Crystal will remember the order you select until further changes.

What's more, when sorting the Topics, you will see the associated Dynamic Filters and Time Range of each Topic, so you can better distinguish identical Topics from each other.

<figure><img src="https://2516160394-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FmAOqTQkYofJrevcpklA7%2Fuploads%2F9GzRxrOBRBjvrCHyPcvS%2FScreenshot%202024-02-25%20at%2000.12.59.png?alt=media&#x26;token=52aef61b-4c4a-4cf2-8bd4-d0a925871495" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>Sort Option</p></figcaption></figure>

### Remove a Topic from a Data Story

You can also remove a Topic from your Data Story.&#x20;

There are two ways to do this.

1. Straight from the Topic Card o*n the Advisor*, in the "Add to Data Stories" menu, where you can remove a Data Story de-select it.&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://2516160394-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FmAOqTQkYofJrevcpklA7%2Fuploads%2F6dYspn5UObm6bbcXcsrt%2FScreenshot%202024-02-25%20at%2000.16.16.png?alt=media&#x26;token=2ff856fd-ee93-4f77-8335-2907db551313" alt="" width="539"><figcaption><p>Remove Topic Card Method #1</p></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="https://2516160394-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FmAOqTQkYofJrevcpklA7%2Fuploads%2FAJy5BYGF1LtHANI5ga8h%2FScreenshot%202024-02-25%20at%2000.22.35.png?alt=media&#x26;token=5c577b27-877e-4dda-a0b5-33c44761b234" alt="" width="533"><figcaption><p>Deselect Data Story</p></figcaption></figure>

2. From the Topic Card *in the Data Story* itself, by clicking on the "Save" button.

<figure><img src="https://2516160394-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FmAOqTQkYofJrevcpklA7%2Fuploads%2FYOQUTHSr54KlLWWkcDWd%2FScreenshot%202024-02-25%20at%2012.47.41.png?alt=media&#x26;token=85b23bb1-7e3c-4ace-820a-6f08f69d7216" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>Remove Topic Card Method #2</p></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="https://2516160394-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FmAOqTQkYofJrevcpklA7%2Fuploads%2FmDrrmDfjD5wKpqDFiQOT%2FScreenshot%202024-02-25%20at%2000.23.19.png?alt=media&#x26;token=cf8b5975-4d06-4737-a031-4fd42df6466f" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>Confirm Deletion</p></figcaption></figure>

### Share a Data Story

Sharing a Data Story is an alternative way to share your data with co-workers directly on Crystal. It allows you to *share a full collection of Topics* instead of just one (as with the [Share Topic](https://docs.igenius.ai/crystal-advisor/report-and-discuss-your-data/share-topic) capability).

Here is how to do it:

1. Find one of the two *“Share Data Story”* buttons
   1. The first one is inside the three-dot menu alongside the Data Story title
   2. The second one is on the top right corner of the full Data Story Section
2. Choose one or more recipients, and your Data Story will be sent to them!
3. Alternatively, you can also send an email that notifies your co-workers that you have shared a Data Story with them.

Congratulations: by sharing a Data Story, you are not only sharing data, but you are providing context and building an efficient narrative around it!&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://2516160394-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FmAOqTQkYofJrevcpklA7%2Fuploads%2FkvgKRJMJGgluFg9iK8Gu%2FScreenshot%202024-02-25%20at%2012.55.56.png?alt=media&#x26;token=b6f9aade-d510-4402-b4cb-ce083f57ef77" alt=""><figcaption><p>Share the Data Story</p></figcaption></figure>

### Receive a Data Story

What if someone sent you a Topic?

This is what would happen:

1. You would receive a notification or an email on your Crystal account, notifying that someone has shared a Data Story with you.
2. By clicking on the notification, you will be able to save the shared Data Story in your account.

At this point, you can find the received Data Story in your Data Stories section and consult it whenever needed.

{% hint style="warning" %} <mark style="color:orange;">**Remember**</mark>

What you can do after receiving a Data Story depends on your account's *viewing permissions*.

When you receive a Data Story for which you do not have viewing permissions, you will be able to see it only when opening the "Share" notification, but you won't be able to save it to your Data Stories.
{% endhint %}
