Siri & Shortcuts

This page describes the Siri & Shortcuts capabilities.

You can integrate your Crystal app with the iOS Virtual Advisor "Siri" and with the iOS app "Shortcuts".

This way, you have two alternative options to customize your mobile experience to get insights from Crystal directly on your device, without needing to even open the app!

Please Note

Both capabilities are available on iOS devices only (iPhones and iPads).

Ask Siri to Ask Crystal

By integrating the Crystal app with Siri, you will be able to ask Siri for data from Crystal.

Enable the Siri Integration

You can enable the integration between Crystal and Siri directly from the Crystal app, in the following way:

1. Go to the "Account" section on the right side of the menu

2. Click on "Create Shortcut"

3. Click on "Done" and then "Ok".

From this point on, you'll be able to ask Siri for a Topic.

Remember

If you uninstall and reinstall the Crystal app, don't forget to re-enable the integration with Siri!

Ask Siri for Your Topics

You can easily ask Siri to bring up your Topics from Crystal, as follows:

1. Say "Hey Siri!" to wake it up

2. Add the question formula "Ask Crystal..."

3. Wait for Siri to ask you "What would you like to ask?"

4. Conclude by specifying the question you need, for example a full Topic or a Filter.

Remember

• You can talk to Siri with the same conversational rules as those implemented on Crystal, net of Siri-specific limitations. This means that you can directly ask for a Topic or for any other things, e.g. asking Filters with the "and for" formula, and so on.

• You will be only able to interact with Siri if the language set on your device (and therefore on Siri) matches the language set on the Crystal app.

Get Your Topics from Siri

At this point, Siri will return the same response as Crystal: a Topic Card complete with a Topic Graph and an intro message.

By tapping on it, you will be redirected to the Crystal app to access the interactive version of the Topic Card and see all the related Insights.

Create Shortcuts to Crystal

By integrating the Crystal app with the app shortcuts, you will be able to create customized shortcut widgets to your Crystal Topics.

Enable Shortcut Integration

You can enable the integration between Crystal and shortcuts directly from the Crystal app, as follows:

1. Go to the "Account" section on the right side of the menu

2. Click on "Create Shortcut"

3. Click on "Done" and then "Ok".

This is how you create shortcuts to Topics.

Remember

If you uninstall and reinstall the Crystal app, don't forget to re-enable the integration with Shortcuts!

At this point, you can create Shortcuts in two alternative ways:

• From the Crystal app

• From the Shortcuts app

Add Shortcuts to Crystal Topics from the Topic Card

At this point, you can set Shortcuts to any Topic present in your Crystal Project directly from the Crystal app.

Follow these steps:

1. Ask the Topic of your interest and find it on the Advisor

2. From the Topic Card, you'll receive a response. Click on the menu on the top right of the card and select the option "Siri Integration", then click on "Done".

Remember

The "Siri Integration" option will be available on the Topic Card only if asked via a direct question or via Suggestions. As such, it will not be available when asked via Data Stories, Dashboard, or the Ask featuring.

Set the Shortcut from Crystal app

Now, if you go to the Shortcut app Homepage, you will find the newly created Shortcut ready to use!

Add Shortcuts to Crystal Topics from the Shortcut App

Since this is an independent app, you can also add Shortcuts to Crystal or to Topics from the Shortcut app on your iPhone or iPad itself.

Follow these steps:

1. Find the Shortcut app and open it

1. Select Crystal as the source app

Select Crystal app

1. You can now create your Shortcut question, with two options. 1) Create a general Shortcut without specifying the Topic, or 2) directly specify the Topic by writing it in the box, then click on "Done".

Remember

You need to write your questions in the same language set in the Crystal app!

Write the Question for the Shortcuts

Now, if you go to the Shortcuts app Homepage, you will find the newly created Shortcuts ready to use!

Please Note

You should rename your Shortcuts in order to remember its content.

Get Your Topics from Shortcuts

Once you create a Shortcut, you can use it from the Shortcuts app.

Simply click on it to get your question running, then you'll be able to see your Topic in the Shortcut app.

You will receive the same response as on Crystal: a Topic Card complete with a Topic Graph and intro message.

When you tap on it, you will be redirected to the Crystal app to access the interactive version of the Topic Card and see all the related Insights.

Please Note

The answer you will receive depends on the question that you have set.

For example:

• If you have specified a Topic, you will receive it directly

• If you have set up a generic question, you will be asked for more information.

Customize Your Shortcuts

To experience the capability at its best, you can customize your Shortcuts according to the specific functionalities of the app. For example, adding a link to the Homepage or creating a routine.

This way, you will be able to access and use your Topics whichever way you want!

Edit and Delete Shortcuts

You can edit the trigger phrase for the the Shortcut and delete a Shortcut at any time, in two alternative ways:

• On the Crystal app, by pressing the "Siri Integration" button on the Topic Card again

• From the Shortcuts app.
