Siri & Shortcuts

This page describes the Siri & Shortcuts capabilities.

You can integrate your Crystal app with the iOS Virtual Advisor "Siri" and with the iOS app "Shortcuts".

This way, you have two alternative options to customize your mobile experience to get insights from Crystal directly on your device, without the need to even open the app!

Please Note

Both capabilities are available on iOS devices only (iPhones and iPads).

Ask Siri to Ask Crystal

By integrating the Crystal app with Siri, you will be able to ask Siri to provide you with the data from Crystal.

Enable Siri Integration

You can enable the integration between Crystal and Siri directly from the Crystal app, like so:

navigate to the "Account" section on the right side of the menu
click on "Create Shortcut"
click on "Done" and then "Ok"

Wonderful! Now you are able to directly ask Siri for a Topic.

Remember

If you uninstall and reinstall the Crystal app, don't forget to re-enable the integration with Siri!

Ask Your Topics to Siri

You can easily ask Siri to bring up your Topics from Crystal like this:

say "Hey Siri!" in order to awaken Siri
add the question formula "Ask Crystal..."
wait for Siri to ask you "What would you like to ask?"
conclude by specifying the question you need, for example a full Topic or a Filter

Remember

You can talk with Siri according to the same conversational rules as those implemented in Crystal, net of Siri-specific limitations. This means that you can directly ask for a Topic or any other things, e.g. asking Filters with the "and for" formula, and so on.
You will be able to interact with Siri only if the language of the device you are using (and therefore of Siri) matches the language set on the Crystal app

Get Your Topics from Siri

At this point, you will receive from Siri the same response that Crystal would have given: a Topic Card complete with Topic Graph and intro message.

By tapping on it, you will be redirected to the Crystal app to access the interactive version of the Topic Card and see all the related Insights.

Create Shortcuts to Crystal

By integrating the Crystal app with the app Shortcuts, you will be able to create customized shortcut widgets to your Crystal Topics.

Enable Shortcuts Integration

You can enable the integration between Crystal and Shortcuts directly from the Crystal app, like so:

navigate to the "Account" section on the right side of the menu
click on "Create Shortcut"
click on "Done" and then "Ok"

Wonderful! Now you are able to create your shortcuts to Topics.

Remember

If you uninstall and reinstall the Crystal app, don't forget to re-enable the integration with Shortcuts!

At this point, you can create Shortcuts in two alternative ways:

from Crystal app
from Shortcuts app

Add Shortcuts to Crystal Topics from the Topic Card

At this point, you can set Shortcuts to any Topic present in your Crystal Project directly from the Crystal app.

Follow these steps:

ask the Topic of your interest and find it in the Advisor
from the Topic Card that you receive as a response, click on the menu on the top right of the card and select the option "Siri Integration", then click on "Done"

Remember

The "Siri Integration" option will be available in the Topic Card only if the Topic has been been asked via a direct question or via Suggestions: therefore, it will not be present when asked via Data Stories, Dashboard, or Ask.

Now, if you go to the Shortcuts app Homepage, you will find the newly created Shortcut ready to use!

Add Shortcuts to Crystal Topics from the Shortcuts App

Given that it is an independent app, you can also add Shortcuts to Crystal or to Topics from the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad itself.

Follow these steps:

find the Shortcuts app and open it

select Crystal as the source app

you can now create your Shortcut question, with two options: create a general Shortcut without specifying the Topic, or directly specify the Topic you want by writing it in the box; then click on "Done" when you are ready

Remember

You need to write your questions in the same language set in the Crystal app!

Now, if you go to the Shortcuts app Homepage, you will find the newly created Shortcuts ready to use!

Please Note

You should rename your Shortcuts in order to remember its content.

Get Your Topics from Shortcuts

Once created a Shortcut, you can use it from the Shortcuts app.

Simply click on it and the question will be run: now you can visualize the Topic in the Shortcut app.

You will receive the same response that Crystal would have given: a Topic Card complete with Topic Graph and intro message.

By tapping on it, you will be redirected to the Crystal app to access the interactive version of the Topic Card and see all the related Insights.

Please Note

The answer you will receive depends on the question that you have set.

For example:

if you have specified a Topic, you will directly receive it
if you have set up a generic question, you will be asked to specify more information

Customize Your Shortcuts

To experience the capability at its best, you can customize your Shortcuts according to the specific functionalities of the app: for example, adding a link to the Homepage or creating a routine.

This way, you will be able to access and use your Topics in the way that best suits your needs!
