In every Topic Card, there is a "Filter" button located at the bottom of the Actions Bar.
Click on it to to keep exploring your Topic in greater depth by applying Filters, both Dynamic Filters and / or Time Ranges.
Note
Applying filters this way is an alternative to directly asking Crystal in a conversation.
You can also filter a whole list of Topics from the Topics Section
The filters applied to the Topic will also be kept when you save that Topic in a Data Story
After clicking on the "Filter" button, you will be to select which Filters you want to edit or add.
As usual, you can choose between Time Ranges and Dynamic Filters.
Note
You can also edit Filters by clicking on the "See More" option on the Topic Card, which signals that some Filters are applied to the Topic. You can also choose the "Edit" option from "View Filters" page.
When you click on the calendar on the top left side of the screen, you will see a list of options, allowing you to pick a time range for the selected Topic.
Time Ranges options include:
"This year" preset: selects the time range between January 1st of the current year and today, dynamically updating the ending date "today" as days pass by
"Last year" preset: selects the time range between January 1st and December 31st of the last year
Custom time frame: you can select a time range with the starting and ending dates you prefer (ending dates can also be in the future, if the underlying data allow for it)
You can find all the available filters listed by filter name: e.g. Sales Agent, Forecast Month, Account, etc.
The Search Bar may help you speed up your Filter research should there be too many Filters to choose from.
Alternatively, you can sort the Filter list by choosing an A-Z order, a Z-A order, or choosing to only view selected or unselected Filters.
For each filter, you can select a specific value.
Just click on the chosen Filter to view and select the values available.
You can also apply multiple values from multiple filters.
To finalize the operation, select as many values as you need, then click on the "Apply" button down below.
You can also remove one or more filters and / or filter values in one of the following ways:
by manually de-selecting each of them inside the filter space
in bulk, by clicking on the "Clear" button on the right
This last action will result in the removal all of the values selected inside that filter.
Alternatively, click on "Clear all" to completely remove all the filters applied.
Please Note
In the cases of Databases with custom Row-Level Security policies applied, the displayed suggestions of Filter Values are restricted to the values that you have permissions for at Database level only.
